Synthetic Turf Replacement and Associated Work / Comprehensive Stadium Redevelopment
The Garcelon Stadium Complex is home to the first NCAA football game in the State of Maine. The stadium includes an infilled synthetic multi-purpose game field, a new 1,500-seat grandstand, a modular press box and filming platform, and site walkways connecting the athletic campus to a new dining hall and dormitories. The stadium infrastructure included new state-of-the-art athletic lighting, scoreboard and message boards, protective netting, site fencing, and sound systems.
In 2010, Gale assisted Bates with the design, permitting, bid, and construction of their synthetic turf multi-sport game field with track and field events. We recently designed for the turf replacement and associated work. The project includes an evaluation of the field, fencing, and protective netting and assistance with the selection of a shock pad, and an overview of alternative infills.
