Building Enclosure Repairs – Witham Field Air Traffic Control Tower
Gale provided comprehensive building enclosure and design consulting services for the rehabilitation of the Martin County Airport’s eight-story Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), addressing persistent water intrusion and enhancing the long-term performance of this mission-critical facility. The project included evaluation and repair of the existing building enclosure, replacement of the airport’s emergency generator, and installation of rooftop safety lighting to improve operational reliability and resilience.
Successfully delivering the project required extensive coordination within an active aviation environment. Gale worked closely with airport staff, air traffic controllers, and project stakeholders to carefully plan and execute the work without disrupting daily aircraft or ATCT operations. The team also coordinated with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Aviation grant requirements and provided guidance related to FAA Form 7460 approvals to facilitate a seamless project delivery.
Gale’s services included facade evaluation, water infiltration analysis, preparation of design documents, public bidding assistance, construction administration, grant administration, and construction-phase coordination. The project demonstrates Gale’s expertise in delivering complex building enclosure solutions for critical infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted operations in highly regulated aviation environments.
