GEA performed an evaluation of the Kaufman Music Center, built in 1978, and partially renovated in 2007, to assess the existing conditions of the various building enclosure systems and estimate future repair and replacement costs for planning purposes. A notable example of Brutalist architecture featuring raw concrete, brick and concrete masonry, metal cladding, curtain wall systems, and storefront glazing, the assessment included a review of original construction drawings, inspection of the facade and roofing systems, and interior leak audit testing to investigate ongoing moisture intrusion. A detailed findings report of the existing conditions, system deficiencies, and recommended repair options with associated cost estimates was prepared to enable the client to prioritize immediate concerns while planning and allocating funding for future improvements.
