The Fox Hill Tower, also known as the War Memorial Tower, stands 72 feet tall and was constructed in 1939 to honor the men and women from Vernon who served their country. After more than eight decades, the memorial complex required comprehensive repairs, enhancements, and improved accessibility where feasible. Over time, previous spot repairs introduced a patchwork of original and later alterations, detracting from the tower’s historic aesthetic.

Gale was retained to evaluate the deteriorating elements and developed recommendations for improvements to correct past renovations that were not aligned with the original design intent and improve ADA access to the walkways and promenade. All proposed improvements were developed with careful consideration for preserving the tower’s historic vistas and the integrity of its original approach.
