Building Enclosure Commissioning Services – New School Construction
Gale provided building enclosure commissioning (BECx) services for Cross Prairie K-8 School, a new three-story educational facility within the School District of Osceola County. The school accommodates administrative offices, classrooms, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium. Designed by Schenkel Shultz Architecture, the building enclosure systems include low-sloped single-ply roofing over lightweight insulating concrete and metal deck, concrete tilt-up wall panels, punched windows, curtain walls, and pre-engineered aluminum canopies.
Retained by Hanson, the project’s MEP service provider, Gale supported commissioning efforts throughout the design, pre-construction, construction, testing, and post-construction phases. Services included review of building enclosure design documents, evaluation of enclosure systems, coordination with the project team, field observations, and testing to assess compliance with project requirements and support long-term building performance.
The completed facility received industry recognition as the recipient of the 2026 Florida Educational Facilities Planners’ Association (FEFPA) Architectural Showcase Award, earning First Place in the K-8/Combination/Middle Schools category.
