Gale conducted an evaluation of Ocean Spray’s headquarters building enclosure to identify the extent of the deficiencies in the existing composite fiberboard siding and to develop repair and replacement options that would reduce future building maintenance, increase energy performance, and improve the thermal comfort of the building occupants. The building was experiencing a non-continuous air barrier that allowed air exfiltration at the wall sill and at the roof eaves. It also was suffering from missing insulation and wet/damaged siding and substrates. Gale’s design solution involved the installation of a continuous vapor permeable air barrier, continuous exterior insulation, fiber cement siding and trim, and new vinyl-clad wood windows.
