Roof Replacement and Improvements
The 5th Regiment Armory, a National Guard Armory, is often referred to as “The Castle” due to its immense size and fortress-style construction and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Gale evaluated the armory’s existing roof system and designed a replacement system of approximately 43,000 sf of low-slope and 66,000 square feet of steep-slope roofing. The new roof system consisted of a thermoplastic (TPO) membrane over new insulation assemblies to achieve a minimum R-30. Other improvements included the replacement of several ridge skylights with wired glass and replacement/refurbishment of copper assemblies.
