Building Enclosure Commissioning
This facility was a new construction laboratory in UConn’s Technology Park which creates a high-tech environment for collaboration between University and Industry research and innovation. The building includes two lower wings with slabs on grade perpendicular to an elevated central wing partially supported by cast-in-place concrete core towers and steel framing.
The building enclosure elements consists of below-grade waterproofing, fluid-applied vapor-permeable air barrier with metal panel rainscreen, pre-cast concrete cladding with foil-faced blanket insulation, aluminum ribbon windows, storefronts, and curtainwalls, single-ply membrane roofing, and hot-applied waterproofing at ‘green roofs’ and planters. Gale performed Building Enclosure Commissioning services, including peer review of design documents, development of the Commissioning Plan and Specifications, and conducted construction monitoring, mock-up review, and testing observation for building enclosure systems.
