Manchester Central High School’s parking garage and elevated plaza were constructed in 2003. Since construction in 2003, the parking garage has experienced moisture infiltration along its perimeter, contributing to corrosion of the structural steel framing and displacement of the spray-applied fireproofing.
Gale performed a visual and hands-on evaluation of the parking structure and plaza deck and prepared a report outlining the condition of both with prioritized repair opinions, including a budget construction cost estimate.
Based on the assessment, Gale designed repairs for the parking garage structure and plaza deck, including demolition and replacement of the existing precast concrete plaza deck stairs and supporting steel elements; demolition and infill of the deteriorated plaza deck vent; replacement of deteriorated areas of the plaza deck; repair of deteriorated concrete within the garage and on the plaza deck; and reinforcement of the existing corroded steel framing.
