Building Enclosure Evaluation, Repair and Window Replacement
The building was experiencing enclosure defects including deteriorated masonry, cracked cast-stone elements, rusted lintels, and damaged slate roof and membrane. Air and water infiltration was reported at three stairwell windows and the auditorium windows. Active leaks occurring at the main entrance staircase into the kitchen area below were also reported. Gale performed building enclosure evaluation and destructive testing, and designed repairs to the entrance staircase including a new pedestrian traffic coating; masonry repairs included repointing, cracked brick, and sealant joint replacements; existing slate and EPDM roof systems repairs and replacement of stairwell and auditorium windows. We also provided bid assistance and construction phase services.
