Roof Evaluation
The iconic thatched roof of the Christmas Tree Shops store near the Sagamore Bridge on Cape Cod was experiencing water infiltration and reaching the end of its service life. Constructed in 1986, the single-story, wood-framed structure’s 23,000 square foot roof assembly consists of a thatched roof, comprised of reeds and straw installed over cross battens installed over an asphalt shingle roof, base insulation, and a tongue and groove wood deck supported by exposed mass timber framing. Gale evaluated the roof assembly for future repair and replacement options.
