Civil/Site Engineering and Construction Administration for Bell Hall
Curry College was experiencing an influx of students and a lack of housing. The college determined in November that a new residence hall (Bell Hall) was needed for the following August to accommodate the student housing swell. The resultant project consisted of a 170-bed dormitory with 82 parking spaces, two ADA-compliant entrances, seven retaining walls, landscape buffers, LID stormwater management systems, and new site utilities. Gale’s design included a new sewer main installed through a wetland area requiring permitting through the Conservation Commission and MWRA, as well as wetland replication and mitigation. We also assisted with permitting. The project is LEED® Silver Certified and included Low Impact Development techniques such as bioretention areas, permeable pavers, stone trenches, grass pavers, infiltration chambers, and dark sky-compliant LED site lighting.
