Gale’s Stone Building Preservation Project Featured in Engineering News-Record

Gale Associates’ work on the historic Stone Building in Augusta, Maine, was recently featured in Engineering News-Record (ENR).

The article, “$20.4M Historic Preservation of Maine’s First State Mental Health Institute Enters Final Phase,” highlights the ongoing preservation of the nearly 200-year-old building and the challenges of protecting its historic character while improving the performance and longevity of its building enclosure.

Gale’s Alan Pinciaro, Assoc. AIA discusses the extensive evaluation and planning behind the preservation effort, as well as the strategies being used to address the building’s historic masonry, windows, and roofing.

We are proud to work with the State of Maine Bureau of General Services and the entire project team to help preserve this important piece of Maine history.
