Tree Clearing
An obstruction analysis was performed on the Runway 8 and Runway 14 approaches which determined that there were penetrations to the Airport’s protected airspace. Most of these penetrations to the airspace were located on properties where the Airport did not have an easement. In a previous project, Gale assisted the Airport in acquiring the required easements to perform the tree clearing operations. During this project, Gale identified and designed the clearing areas, worked with the local Conservation Commission and the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife to get the appropriate permits required to conduct the tree clearing and coordinated the bidding efforts with the City of Pittsfield Purchasing Department. The tree clearing is scheduled to be completed this fall.
