Concrete Restoration and Waterproofing Design
Approximately 3,400 linear feet of utility/steam tunnels transverse beneath Harvard University. Sections of the tunnels have experienced extensive concrete and steel deterioration because of high humidity and moisture intrusion. Through a design/build collaboration with the contractor, renovations included full-depth and concrete spall repairs, hydroactive grout injection and other waterproofing applications, steel renovations, and augmentation. Gale established a long-term monitoring program to gauge structural conditions and waterproofing effectiveness.
