Building Enclosure Commissioning
Gale provided enhanced building enclosure commissioning services for the comprehensive renovation of Cardinal Elementary School, which included the construction of a new 3- to 4-story addition totaling approximately 110,000 gross square feet (GSF). Gale’s commissioning scope encompassed design reviews, technical consultation, and limited construction phase services. This included detailed mark-ups to the architect’s drawings and specifications, with a focus on building enclosure systems—particularly the moisture, air, and thermal control layers, and the transitions between these systems. Key elements addressed included waterproofing, air/vapor barriers, roofing systems, flashing at critical transitions, curtainwalls, and fenestrations.
The renovated school building has achieved a net zero energy rating.
