This presentation will provide an overview of masonry stabilization repair options, applicable to both historic and modern masonry assemblies. The presenters will discuss the stabilization process, from evaluation through design and construction.
They will provide information about the types of evaluation techniques, mechanical anchoring options, preparation of masonry cavities, grout selection and constituents, and field quality control. The presenters will discuss available destructive and non-destructive assessment techniques that can offer guidance for condition assessment, methods of stabilization, and anticipated construction costs.
The presentation will also summarize required specifications and appropriate applications for masonry stabilization, as well as pros and cons for each method. Featured case studies will explore the applicability of two repair options that were successfully implemented on historic masonry projects.
